Winter Blues FestivalFebruary 15 - 21, 2010

 Beat the “winter blues” during the second annual Winter Blues Festival, scheduled for Monday, February 15 through Sunday February 21 in 2010. This week-long celebration of winter will host a variety of events to bring our residents, ski and snow visitors to Downtown Petoskey. 

Winter Blues Festival Buttons – on sale now for $5 each.  Proceeds go to Manna Food Project. Buy a button and qualify for great sales and specials in participating retailers. Wear your button in Downtown the week before the Winter Blues Festival and maybe you will be tagged by a Parking Ambassador and win a bag of parking tokens!

Blue Can Chase the Blues Away Story Time - 6:30 to 7:30 pm
Children's Program Room of the Petoskey District Library.  Even the little ones get the winter blues!  led by Yout Services supervisor, Ron Fowler, this story time will be chock full of blue that will drive the blues away....blue moons, blue rooms, blue animals, blue/s songs, and blue "nicies" - all to chase all of the blue "meanies" away.  there is no charge for this activity, but you are encouraged to sign up by dropping by or calling 231.758.3112 by noon.
 
Petoskey Pat Singing Contest - 8:00 pm – Noggin Room
Local professional and amateur singers compete to win great prizes and a trophy. Entry forms and details online. Attendees can enter to win $200 of Downtown Treasure Certificates awarded at the event.

Wednesday, February 17
Torchlight Parade - 6:00 pm – Streets of Downtown. Come celebrate in this Mardi Gras style parade.

Thursday, February 18
Beard Growing Contest Judging - 6:00 pm – City Park Grill
Come support contestants for their six weeks of beard growing for charity. Attendees can enter to win $200 of Downtown Treasure Certificates awarded at the event.
 
 
Friday, February 19
Whine and Dine - 6:00 pm – A progressive dinner through Downtown restaurants. Tickets are $35 and on sale at the Petoskey Regional Chamber of Commerce and the Petoskey Downtown Offices.
  • Appetizer Course and wine tasing - Coffee and Connect
  • Soup and Bread Course - Whitecaps
  • Salad Course - Fustini's Oils and Vinegars, wine provided by Mackinaw Trail Winery

Hotdish Cookoff - 4:00 pm – Mackinaw Trail Winery, 204 Howard Street.
Local restaurants and amateur chefs invited to submit their favorite hotdish or casserole. Cost is $5 to judge (sample) and Button Wearers get in free. Complimentary wine tasting. Attendees can enter to win $200 of Downtown Treasure Certificates awarded at the event.

Winner of the $200 in Downtown Petoskey Treasure Certificates - Paul Huffak. A good time was had by all of the judges who sampled the hotdishes.  There was food for everyone.  Thanks to Fustini's Oils and Vinegars for their bread and oil and vinegar samples and to Mackinaw Trail Winery who provided wine tasting and a lovely setting for the event.
