"It's something we do every year to train our staff and give back to the community," says Carole Lamberti, general manager. "We feel that this year the Y is a very worthy recipient."

Rod Niswandewr, president of the Petoskey-Bay View Country Club and a board member of the YMCA, agrees that there's a special relationship. "The Y benefits a lot of families, which is why we're also glad to host its fundraiser in October."

The menu will include several kinds of pasta, three different sauces, salad, bread, desserts, and soft drinks. There will also be a cash bar. Carry-out service, very popular in recent years, is available.

The cost is $10 for adults, $5 for children 5-10, and free for those under 5. Advance ticket purchases are encouraged. Please call the YMCA, (231) 348-8393.

Petoskey Film Theater presents 'Rabbit Hole'
RABBIT-HOLE.JPG
April 27th - 29th, 2011
Office: Cultural/Art Event
(Wed. Fri. )
Time: 7:30 PM
Location: Petoskey District Library, Carnegie Building (old library)

The Petoskey Film Theater will be showing the film "Rabbit Hole" on Wednesday and Friday, April 27 and 29, 7:30 at the Petoskey District Library, Carnegie Building. Donations are appreciated. Nicole Kidman was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actress for her role in the film.

"Rabbit Hole" is a vivid, hopeful, honest and unexpectedly witty portrait of a family searching for what remains possible in the most impossible of all situations. Becca and Howie Corbett (Nicole Kidman and Aaron Eckhart) are returning to their everyday existence in the wake of the shocking, sudden loss of their young son. Just eight months ago, they were a happy suburban family with everything they wanted. Now, they are caught in a maze of memory, longing, guilt, recrimination, sarcasm and tightly controlled rage from which they cannot escape.

The shifts come in abrupt, unforeseen moments. Becca hesitantly opens up to her opinionated, loving mother (Dianne Wiest) and secretly reaches out to the teenager involved in the accident that changed everything; while Howie lashes out and impagines solace with another woman. Yet, as off track as they are, the couple keeps trying to find their way back to a life that still holds the potential for beauty, laughter and happiness. The resulting journey is an intimate glimpse into two people learning to re-engage with each other and a world that has been tilted off its axis.
