Drums are the heartbeat of humanity. Join drummer and educator, Dave Gierke, and spark your musical creativity in this two and half hour workshop. The workshop is designed for beginners and novice players; however, all experience levels are welcome. This workshop includes:

• Basic rhythms and how to build a memory library for using them
• The unspoken rules of the circle
• How to participate in the circle
• The instruments of the circle
• How to participate, follow and even lead a drum circle
• Bonfire (weather permitting)

All instruments are provided, but if you have your own, feel free to bring it. Program begins at 7 pm. Meet at Solace Spa at Boyne Mountain.

About the Presenter: For the past twelve years Dave Gierke has been a teacher and Director of Development for Teledo School for the ARts, one of the nation's leaders in arts and academics. He toured the East coast with a popular show band before opening Dave's Drum Depot in 1991. Dave has served as percussion consultant for programs throughout Ohio including Defiance City Schools, Swanton City Schools and the Glassmen Drum and Bugle Corps. He has a special interest in community building through drumming. His "Rhythm Circles" program has been used by educators and music therapists throughout the United States and he has presented at the Ohio Music Educators Conference and the National Association of Music Therapists. Dave also designs programs for disadvantaged youth, preschools, educator in service training programs and corporate team building seminars.
