Outdoor Enthusiast

Sometimes our vacations require a lot of rest, and sometimes they require a lot of activity.

The Petoskey area is well known for great road biking, with M-119 (also known as the “Tunnel of Trees”) being one of the focal points for biking enthusiasts. Boyne Mountain and Boyne Highlands maintain some of the wildest and most exciting mountain bike trails around. And, if you want a nice, relaxing ride, just hop on the Little Traverse Wheelway, our 26-mile multi-use trail that follows the shoreline from Charlevoix north to Harbor Springs. The Top of Michigan Trails Council is a great resource for biking maps of all kinds, visit them at www.trailscouncil.org.

If you are looking to clock a few miles on your hiking boots while you’re here, we can provide some of the most beautiful hiking trails you’ve ever seen. Through efforts by the Little Traverse Conservancy, we boast a huge collection of acres for you to explore. They can be visited virtually at www.landtrust.org. We also have a long stretch of the North Country Scenic Trail that winds through the area, which is proudly maintained by the local Harbor Springs Chapter.

If you’re looking to satisfy the daredevil in yourself, we can help. Boyne Highlands recently installed a breath-taking zip line that has become a must-do for anyone who visits. Or, see northern Michigan as only the crew at Skydive Harbor Springs can provide.

If your desire for speed is more water-based, jump in a kayak, canoe, or raft and travel down the Sturgeon River with Big Bear Adventures!
