Harbor Springs’ history is made up of the personal memories, stories and traditions of the families and individuals in our community. The Historical Society is excited to present a new juried art exhibition which showcases these stories and memories through the work of more than 50 local artists.
The exhibition, Memories and Art in the Making: Celebrating the Community We Share, is on display at the Shay Hexagon House. Ephraim Shay, the creator of the Shay geared locomotive, built the house in 1892 and lived there until his death in 1916. In July 2017, the Historical Society announced the donation of this unique piece of history to the society from the previous owner, the late Mary Cay Bartush Jones.
The Historical Society is excited to open this storied building to the community and to highlight the history of our community through art. The exhibition will be open on Fridays and Saturdays from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm through September 29, 2018. Admission to the exhibition is free with donations appreciated.
