North Central Michigan College Library will host a book signing with James McCullough, English instructor, on Wednesday, May 1, from 4 p.m. – 6 p.m.  James’ most recent book, Echoes, is a “compilation of essays in honor of old men who taught him how to fish, and philosophies for living.” This event is open to the public.  Light snacks and refreshments will be served.  Copies of the book will be available and James will read a brief excerpt at 4 p.m. and 5 p.m.  No RSVP is required.
James McCullough has taught English Literature and Composition at North Central Michigan College since 1990.  He has been named Teacher of the Year in 1991 and 2014, and became department chair, serving until 2000.  In fall of 2001, he founded the University of Michigan’s Bear River Writers Conference on Walloon Lake, now a premier event, appearing in Poets and Writers Magazine. In 2003, McCullough authored the book Voelker’s Pond, about fly-fishing hero Robert Traver, which was selected by the Library of Michigan as a notable book that year. A frequent contributor to Traverse Magazine, his essays have appeared in The Bear River Review, Blue-The Michigan Magazine, The Dunes Review, and The American Journal of Fly Fishing.
