Laureates of the Sphinx Competition
800 Bay Harbor Drive
Bay Harbor, MI
The Detroit-based Sphinx Organization is dedicated to transforming lives through the power of diversity in the arts. Their programs focus on four main principles: education and access, artist development, performing artists, and arts leadership. The experience from this competition offers young Black and Latino classical string players a chance to compete under the guidance of an internationally renowned panel of judges and to perform with established professional musicians in a competition setting.
This performance features three of the nation’s leading Black and Latino artists – who are previous winners of the Sphinx Competition – and includes dynamic solo and chamber works.
Performers: Elena Urioste, Gabriel Cabezas, Xavier Foley, and Tom Poster.
